I like the dinosaur swallowing the title, but I'm a drama queen, as you know.

The second one, with the skull. No doubt.

I like the second one. It looks more interesting, and the cover does speak volumes about the title. It is usually what catches the readers' interest and gets them curious about the story.

Joana: Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that the cover is what engages the reader and draws them in.

HeedtheWalrus: I appreciate your sincerity. No equivocation on your part, eh?

TNBBC: A minority view perhaps, but a valuable one nonetheless.

Julia: Well, yes.

I fully agree with Joana. Perhaps it is fickle, but a cover with spark my interest about a novel, only in rare cases where the book was referred to me by a resided friend, will I pick up a book with a terrible cover.
I like the first cover, but that might be because it reminds of some old paperback book you might find at a second hand store. My concern is that neither really tell you much of the story. Is it about dinosaurs?

That's what the second cover tells me, a modern tell about dinos.

Mm, no dinosaurs in the book. The photo in the second cover is a skull all right, but not a dinosaur skull. A sort of viciously fanged head thing, which fits in with the story...

What is the genre of the tale?

It's fantasy novel. With talking animals. And a one-armed aorcerer. And a glowering warrior with secrets. And a drug addicted cheetah. And a raccoon spy who fronts as a stand-up comic. And some shark pirates... It's all sort of hard to get into one image, I guess. There's also a sort of mystery creature (or creatures) which is where this skull comes in. And there's lots of, y'know, fighting and slashing and hewing and so forth. A lot of bones left on the ground and you don't always know whose they are.

the second one.

Nice covers! My preferences are for the second, the one with the dinosaur (probably?) skull. I guess just because some of my future stories have a lot to do with The horible lizards - the dinosaurs :). Keep the good work going!
